Big Daddy Sycamore: Back to the Homeland! Forestry Ranger Val joins
Toddy Sycamoreseed for a measuring extravaganza. High-level
engineering and mathematics are carried out at Cornertown Road to
discern the true stature of Big Daddy Sycamore. The results are
impressive: Big Daddy Sycamore towers to 120 feet, has a circumference
of 12.5 feet, and has a crown width of 72 feet. Using the standard
equation to measure tree impressiveness:
SCORE = height (ft) + circumference (in) + 0.25 average crown (ft)
we find 120 + 150 + 18 = 288
The largest of American Sycamores in the US score 542 (KY), 472 (CA),
and 462 (AZ), but Big Daddy Sycamore is still #1 to us!
