Meeting Minutes
Minutes for the meeting of April 6, 2006

2:58 pm - Acting Secretary Ellyn shows up to an empty room.

3:01 pm - Everyone's late.

3:02 pm - Pizza and people show up.

3:04 pm - Silence descends as pizza and breadsticks are munched.

3:07 pm - Meeting commences.

3:08 pm - Regular events are discussed - see main webpage for dates and times. Solar Observing didn't end up happening in March and no one complained, but we'll try again this month.

3:10 pm - President Erika points out that observing for the Astronomy labs is going on this week and next so if you'd like to join in with that, feel free to.

3:11 pm - Telescope update: a secondary mirror holder was found and purchased - pretty cool-looking. Also helpful to spend our moola.

3:13 pm - The Cosmos voyage continues as the Astro Movie this month with episodes 5 and 6.

3:14 pm - Soon-To-Not-Be-President President Erika announces her resignation from her mighty office of power. Nominations for President, VP, Treasurer, and Secretary can be sent to Secretary Ellyn. You can nominate yourself or others if you like. Secretary Ellyn rather suspects it'll be more like volunteering for the office so if you don't want to participate in a long, slanderous campaign, there's no need to lose any sleep over it. Please send nominations by April 20th or so.

3:16 pm - The Messier Marathon was cancelled in March so we'll try a couple of weekends in April - first the weekend of the 21-23rd and if it's crappy weather, we'll go for the next weekend (28-30th). Look for go/no-go emails about this. President Erika has vowed to be "less wishy-washy" when it comes to calling them on or off next time. We'll try to carpool and gas money will be reimbursed. We'll not go out if there are fewer than five people, though.

3:20 pm - The camping trip to the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL has not been forgotten. We'll discuss it at the May meeting and probably plan on going sometime in May.

3:21 pm - Speaking of spending money (the underlying theme of the previous point), the Club now has a subscription to the Night Sky magazine.

3:22 pm - The T-shirt Committee, Treasurer Bryan, reported on the T-shirt front and said the cost of the shirts will most likely be between $10 and $12. We're hoping T-shirts will be free to members but if you want extras, you'll have to pay for them. Secretary Ellyn is sure they'll make just lovely Christmas presents for the entire family. Let her know how many you'd like if you haven't already.

3:25 pm - Don't forget to send nominations for Astro Club officers!

3:26 pm - The meeting is adjourned. Pizza is consumed.

In attendance: Prez Erika, Treasurer Bryan, Kevin, Angela, Ellyn, Paramita
